for those of us who have websites (and for those of us who don't, consider making one!!), what's something fun you've done in designing your website lately?
i'll go first! i just finished implementing a page pet! the actual process was super simple, but hunting down graphics i felt would be appropriate was helllllll
my first draft was going to use art of tako luka that i had drawn myself and one of these backgrounds from the credits of project diva, specifically the one in the top right. i wasn't satisfied with it, so i pivoted to finding old (2008-2011-ish) art of rin. something transparent and in a chibi art style, and hopefully animated as well. i did find one thing that almost fit the bill, but it was a bit too small and ended up looking weird when i added it in. plus i couldn't source it, as the original artist had deleted the page they posted it to long ago, and i felt weird using fan art i couldn't source. so i had to pivot yet AGAIN. eventually i landed on using a gif rendered using the project sekai chibi viewer, and realizing that the background i had originally chosen clashed with the look of my site, i pivoted to a different background found here. lastly, i went into the html for the page pet and edited her date of birth to be her release date (12/27/2007), calculated by finding how many seconds had passed between 12/31/1969 and that date. i originally just trial and errored my way through it, but as i was typing this i realized OH it's probably based on seconds since the UNIX epoch date.
and finally, after all of that...
she's done! ♡
despite hunting down artwork for this being suuuuuper tedious and a giant pain entirely because of how picky i was with the final result, making a page pet was really fun, so i might add more to the page with time!! considering adding a tamanotchi next.

I'm putting a neocities site together piece by piece, but there hasn't been much progress with it so far. I'm clueless as to how to code and I gotta figure out how to implement everything as I'm going along, so working on it is unfortunately kinda draining for me. I'm using a template someone made so I don't have to build it up from scratch, but still. I'd say my biggest issue with my site atm is my background. I have a glitchy purple title background that I think is really cool, but I'm worried it might trigger some people with epilepsy. Here's a link to my site so far (tw: don't click if you're sensitive to flashing images)I really like how it looks, but I'm still worried that I'm excluding people. I've tried looking for cooler tile backgrounds on the usual geocities resource sites, but nothing really fits my vibe and aesthetic that well. If I can't find anything, I'm just gonna put a warning page for when people enter (and I don't even know how to make separate pages yet).

ur page pet is SO CUTE! i have one too but i just used the default graphics lmao, but this makes me want to go in and customize some more. i actually really like those backgrounds you linked, i might use one?! anyway, the most recent thing i did was… well, start updating it with blog entries lol. but i think the next thing i’m gonna do is learn how to actually create containers since i’ve just been using sadgrl’s template code. i found this site (TW FOR FLASH!) which has a scrolling to-do list and a scrolling playlist box, i want to add something like that to my homepage!! the owner of that site also just told me in their chatbox how to make lists with images as bullet points so i’m pumped to try that out this is my site btw! aryllsappreciations.neocities.org

back to this — i’ve successfully made my homepage an ugly mess! which was sort of the goal. although i’ll probably come back and fix it up once i’ve fixed up some of my other pages

I really went nuts adding stuff since I checked up on this thread; I ended up adding a shrine to my favorite Vocaloid, a Splatoon shrine, expanded my stamp gallery by... a lot (fair warning, there are well over 200 stamps now), added a music player (without autoplay, I'm not evil), and joined a few webrings. Woo!

Figured I'd finally jump onto this thread. While my website is still heavily in progress, I've really buckled down lately with writing things on some OC pages and reworking my fanart gallery. I also added a secret page for fun (it's extremely easy to find.) Edit: Ok you can't see links in dark mode apparently. If you click the word website it'll go to mine lmao.
