Hallo hallo, I've currently been in between podcasts that have caught my attention. I listen to both fiction and educational podcasts so I'm up for suggestions from either. I mostly like horror and science based podcasts but feel free to suggest things outside those genres if you like them!

Hallo hallo, I've currently been in between podcasts that have caught my attention. I listen to both fiction and educational podcasts so I'm up for suggestions from either. I mostly like horror and science based podcasts but feel free to suggest things outside those genres if you like them! HI i love podcasts so here is a list of some recs! id love to hear some of yours too! horror: Alice isnt dead - a woman goes on a road trip across America looking for her wife who she thought was dead, a supernatural horror told from the character recounting evens on long stretches of quiet roads. I love this podcast so much, its themes and motifs just perfectly interlock and the ending is just... well i wont spoil anything. (its been a bit so i listened so i dont trust myself to create a proper TW list but i dont remember anything particularly bad - just general violence and horror stuff) Archive 81 - A horror podcast that was done so badly by netflix omg. This podcast gets so weird and i love it. the first season of it is about a woman named Melody decades ago recording her interviews and investigations in the Vissor building and is simultaneously about Dan Powell, the archivist hired to go though Melody's recordings in the modern day and his isolation in the empty archive. There are two full seasons after this that are different but exist in the same world with characters carrying over and expanding the really interesting worldbuilding of this universe. Pretty heavy on the body horror if you are not into that btw. not horror: Brimstone Valley Mall - Its a very short podcast that centres around a band of demons called Mall Rat who are going to be opening for the Y2K party where demons are going to be plunging the world into the dark ages, problem is their lead singer is missing. It is VERY 90s, VERY funny, and VERY worth the listen imo ARS paradoxica - my personal favourite, a intricate time travel narrative that somehow manages to not be totally confusing. Dr Sally Grissom accidentally invents time travel and finds herself in 1943 and roped into working for the government. It has so many interesting ideas about time travel and really explores the idea of a time machine especially in the hands of the American government. Although initially set in 1943, aars paradoxica mostly revolves around the cold war and paranoia. I love this podcast so much <3 this is not a comprehensive list of all id recommend so if these dont work i could always send more hope you enjoy.

Brimstone Valley Mall sounds super funny, I've never actually heard of it! I listened to Alice Isn't Dead a while back and enjoyed it, I think the Netflix tie in with Archive 81 scared me off, even though I never watched the Netflix series, anyway...
The only suggestions that I can really think of right now would be Ologies if you enjoy science, each episode the host brings on an expert in an "-ologist" field and they discuss their work. I also highly recommend Batman: Unburied and Batman: The Audio Adventures but... if you don't like Batman, they're very not interesting. OTL

Here are my podcast recommendations!
Death in the Afternoon: a few professionals in the funeral industry tactfully talk about interesting topics relating to the industry, common misconceptions, recent legislation, and things like that Play Dead Podcast: not updated anymore, but they would get with different game devs to talk about how they use death and their own personal experiences with it in creating their games Death et seq: a lawyer and professor talks about death legislation but stopped making episodes around the start of the COVID pandemic The NoSleep Project: a bunch of voice actors read spooky stories from r/nosleep. caution here, some of the stories are graphic, in poor taste, or deal with sensitive topics and don't have the best trigger warning system, so take care of yourself first Truer Crime: true crime discussed by a black woman who tactfully talks about the systemic causes and consequences of true crime, as well as how poorly things can be handled by true crime podcasts and media in general Dark Downeast: true crime in maine discussed respectfully and with family consent, very thought-provoking and interesting to listen to

I love Death in the Afternoon! I have so much respect for Caitlin and her organization/company. The NoSleep podcast is definitely hit or miss like you said, but some of it is decent... r/nosleep in general is such a mixed bag. :9 I'll have to look into the true crime ones since you've mentioned they're done respectfully, it's so disheartening to hear how some people engage with tragedies like that. : (

I also second the respect for the order of the good death, it helped me handle a lot of the anxieties i had and i learn just so much with all of that. I am so fascinated by true crime, not for all the grisly details and such, and it really makes me so sad to hear about how it's become a whole industry where the people and families are thrown to the wayside for people who want to thirst for ted bundy, but i can definitely recommend those two! they're just so respectful and cover a range of topics and always make sure to mention how things like that happen and how to help the families or communities hurt.

OTL ooh yeh ive been meaning to listen to batman unburied and good luck with archive 81, its so good but its sad to be in the fandom when you like s1 or s2 becuase the fandom is very centred around s3
may i also recommend the deca tapes, it's a murder mystery all about the prison industrial complex i listened to it over the course of a week ( its pretty short ). Thanks for the reccomendations!
