It is Friday for me, 14:21 to be precise, actually, so I think I'll share a few of my works here.
Kirk & Rose Co. Rose Pancrew arrives to Markga -- the capital of Cleven -- a fictional UK country. While on her holiday, she meets an unusual and slightly mad entrepreneur Kirk P. Mantel. He introduces Rose to the world of folkloric and magical creatures that inhabit the island of Cleven. Together they try to establish business relationships with all kinds of folk -- from trolls to goblins and wizards -- while failing to do so miserably.
Diaries of an unnamed woman Acting on a sudden impulse to write, I have created yet another project -- the Diaries of an unnamed woman. For now containing only one story of a maid living in circa 1717 who falls madly in love with a pirate. Planning to make it a collection of short stories telling the tales of unnamed women throughout history, their struggles and romances. Absolutely NOT historically accurate.
Both of them aren't edited properly, but I think I've removed most grammatical mistakes and errors.
P.S. Should we make weekly prompts? Just a word or a topic or a theme? You obviously don't have to follow them, but for those who might be struggling with writing I think giving prompts in this club will be a good start. Feel free to share your thoughts and writing!!
P.P.S. If you have a pen name or a pseudonym under which you'd like to share your writing here, please include it in your post! I'll be adding the 'by [author]' in the list of works in the main post, so if you'd like to chose a certain name, feel free to do so.

Took a break this week from my novel (heavily still in planning stage) and longfic (first few chapters) to write a triple drabble for a small fandom im in. Prompts sound like a great idea! I love writing prompts.
by CowardlyCod A short focus on two people together in love but always only after losing the version of the other they fell in love with. For the ARS paradoxica fandom.
idk how to do this, if it all has to be original ficfiction please delete this.

I already posted a bit of this on Jelly's thread about our first lines of writing, but I've written it out a lot more since then. It's still not finished yet, but I think I'll likely have it done within this week. MILD TRIGGER WARNING for severe injury at the end. The Stairs by MrsMoeAnd yeah, having prompts every week sounds fun! I can't guarantee I'll be able to follow them every time, but I'll do my best.

I like this even if I don't understand anything, haha! And yes, fanfiction is allowed here, don't worry. The ARS paradoxica sounds like a really cool name, maybe I'll check it out :>

I missed Friday due to being, like, stupid-busy. I thought I'd throw one of my fanfics in here a bit late though!
They Might Call It Treason (I Call It Love) by AzureMist (me!)In which Kiyotaka has deep-rooted internalized homophobia, Mondo is bad at emotions, and the two of them lean on each other while existing in a world that hates them. This fanfic is 4 chapters and 25k words long, is for the Danganronpa fandom (the ship Ishimondo specifically), and is probably my magnum opus. Content warnings include uncensored usage of bigoted words, a scene where a character gets kinda beat up (but not super seriously, just playground bullying), and heavy themes of internalized homophobia. It does have a happy ending! We just gotta wade through The Horrors first before we get there.
As you can probably tell, it's definitely an exploration of themes regarding overcoming internalized homophobia, the different ways that it can manifest, and such and so. Very much based off of my own experiences as a queer person who grew up in an unaccepting environment.

I loved reading this!! Like feralcat, I don't actually know what's going on, but I loved the structure of it. It scratched my brain. This concept is so... Alice in Wonderland-esque?? Alice and Wonderland but more existential dread. That's a very positive thing, and I'm so curious as to where this is going!

Kirk & Rose Co. is really enjoyable so far! The casual, domestic setting mixed with fantastical whimsy reminds me a lot of Neil Gaiman in a way. Overall, your writing is very fun and easy to read, and I can't wait to see where this goes. I have some suggestions though. I think the prologue would be a lot stronger if it was a better establishing moment for Rose's personality and character. You could say it shows how persistent and determined she is, but I think more could be done. Also, I feel like it's kind of weird how Rose and Kirk are already talking about possibly liking each other so early in. It's neat that they're starting to warm up to each other, but I'd spend another chapter or two of them finding things to admire about each other. And I feel like they shouldn't joke about possibly being attracted to each other until like....the middle portion of the story maybe? Still, fabulous job overall! I can't say much about Diaries of an Unnamed Woman yet (obviously), but that's shaping up to be pretty good too!

Considering Wonderland is one of my favorite stories ever, you have no idea how much of a compliment that is for me. It's definitely is an allegorical story with a setting and logic that exists for the metaphors sake, but I've always loved stories like that. I'd say Angel's Egg and Eraserhead were also big influences on the atmosphere. I've also noticed that existential dread is a constant in pretty much everything I make and I'm very much proud of that~

I don't think I've ever read something similar to this. It's so abstract and floaty, but at the same time my brain interprets everything in the story to fit a narrative that might be set in the real world.
My headcannon for the story is that it's just one big allegory for daily trudge of life, capitalism and stuff. Habitual living is the little death of our lives, whenever you don't notice the mundane beauty of things because your brain got used to it. But whenever you actually pay attention to what's around you, you feel so much joy and fear for your life -- you understand just how fragile your living is and how miniscule you are. Fantastic story, can't wait to see how it continues!

I can't say much about Diaries of an Unnamed Woman yet (obviously), but that's shaping up to be pretty good too! Ohhh, thank you so much for the feedback! I really appreciate it!
I'm glad that my work reminds of Neil Gaiman. Also ironic, considering how I just bought my first Neil Gaiman's book today. Never read his books before, but I did watch Coraline the cartoon and Good Omens Season 1. I really respect Gaiman as an author. And yeah, I've been writing serious/non-whimsical stuff for so long that one day I decided to write something light and fun to read. Which is the main reason why the Kirk & Rose Co. even exists in the first place.
As to the prologue, thanks, I didn't really think about it before. The problem, I think, is that I never originally planned any prologue! It's just that my first chapter became a bit too long and I decided to split it into two. And that's how the zeroth chapter was born. I think I'm gonna add a description of Rose's walk around the city, maybe introduce the reader both to her and to the city she arrived at.
The relationship between Kirk and Rose does feel a bit hasty for me. I don't really like just how quickly they become acquainted with each other. I just want to drive the point early in the story that Kirk and Rose aren't going to be romantically interested in each other. Their relationship, I'd describe, is more like a sibling one. I would really hate it if they became lovers, considering how Rose is bisexual and is mostly interested in women (her romance B-plot is coming soon, hopefully :>) and Kirk is an aroace (but he's ready to cheat, steal and lie if necessary, including forming fake romantic relationships with people.)
Little rambling about my OCs here: I really want to create two morally grey characters. I think Kirk already shows off as a morally grey person, considering how he literally steals an important item from another creature in the first chapter. But the only place where Rose is seen as morally grey is when she takes the non-existent bribe from Kirk and also gets her revenge on him later. Also, Rose is a sadist, I suppose?? I didn't plan it, she just turned out to be sadistic. Though this is something I might use as foreshadowing for a later plot.
TL;DR Thanks for the feedback, I'm going to work on the things you've pointed out to me.
P.S. The weekly prompt is here now! As you can guess from the name, it's going to last for a week and you can see it in the top post. The prompt for this/next week (depending on your timezone) is Autumn Spirit
